Energy generation

Just as people in the past gathered firewood and branches in the rural woodlands to use as fuel for their lives, solar power generation is a modern energy source that carries on that tradition. Since its establishment in 2012, local businesses and citizens have worked together to produce renewable energy at Tsujimura Farm and its surrounding forests. Furthermore, by collaborating with local electricity and gas companies, they have realized a local energy cycle of local production and consumption.

Within the forest, the remains of the Tsujimura Hydroelectric Power Plant, which operated during the Taisho era, still exist. This power plant ceased operations when electricity began to be supplied from the town for the construction of artillery batteries. Currently, there are plans to reuse these remains and allow the satoyama (traditional rural landscape) to once again fulfill its role as an energy production site.

​To avoid wasting thin timbers cut during forestry work and thinning, we produce and sell them as firewood. We cut the timber to the appropriate length, dry it, and then create firewood. Currently, it is mainly used as fuel for our tent sauna business, but we plan to increase production for general sale.
